Austin came to Clyde Group after leading communications for the Open Technology Institute, part of the think tank New America, where he managed public affairs campaigns on digital equity and online privacy. Prior to entering the advocacy world, Austin served on Montana Sen. Jon Tester’s 2018 reelection campaign and worked at several public affairs agencies, including Bully Pulpit Interactive and the Glover Park Group. He is an alumni of American University with a degree in political science and, prior to attending college, spent two summers as a local newspaper reporter on Cape Cod.
Austin grew up in Southeastern Massachusetts outside of Providence, Rhode Island and later lived in Hopkinton, Massachusetts—home of the Boston Marathon start line. He is an avid reader, moviegoer, and automotive enthusiast, loves cats, and lives in Columbia Heights, D.C.
